Happy Friday!

!!HAPPY FRIDAY!!

I am SO glad it's Friday. This has been the longest week! A recap on my week: Monday, I got super stressed out with planning my sister's bachelorette weekend for 17 women, out of town. Tuesday, I went to Young Affiliates of the Mint Artitudes committee meeting at the MMC+D downtown. I met some new people, including two Pirates. I am excited..hopefully my brainstorming juices will be flowing next time. ;) Wednesday, Matt & I went to a YAM Happy Hour event downtown. It was fun, but people didn't seem particularly outgoing...I'm really glad he came with me. Last night, I began my evening with a nap (I must be getting old!) and enjoyed the rest of the evening doing laundry and watching my "reality" tv shows. I also made the unofficial-official Bachelorette Party announcement/invite (handmade). Now, the Party will be October 23-25 in Wilmington. Paige just wasn't all that wild about Blacksburg as the destination. Man! Planning for 17 is hard!

Tonight, I am going to a Habitat Young Professionals' Social downtown with my friend, Chris, who just moved here from Raleigh. My freshman year roommate, Joanna, works for Habitat and invited me. This will be the first time we've seen each other since I moved to Charlotte, and even longer than that! It's a long-awaited reunion. 711 Clement whoop-whoop! :) I'm excited to meet her Habitat friends as well. I think tonight will be more fun than Wednesday...we'll see. Tomorrow night, Matt is taking me out to dinner. He hasn't told me where yet, and I really wanna know. I hope the food's good because I can be pretty picky! Maybe Saturday morning, Bella and I can meet Chris, Ebbie & Courtney (2 greyhounds) at the dog park. We'll see. And, of course, I wanna get the house cleaned up and finish my sorting/organization projects.

Hope you have a great Friday & a great weekend! See you next week!

STRESSED OUT MOH

If you could see me know, my hands would be in the air with my head shaking in frustration. Being a MOH is stressful, especially when it comes to the planning of the Bachelorette Party. Everyone wants to help and give their two cents, which is fine; but, when the two cents begins to rapidly multiply--it's all a little bit too much!

Originally, I thought I was planning a night out on the town for my sister and the bridal party. Nope. Yesterday, my sister e-mailed me a "wish list, guest list" with 17 names on it (10 which are not in the bridal party). AGH! My stress pot has begun to boil. (It's been simmering for a few days now with all the e-mails that have been flying back and forth. After numerous threads and checking the calendar multiple times in attempts to be as accommodating as possible, I sent a "tentative, final decision" e-mail only to have one girl come back with, "There's a home football game that weekend."

Leah and Kim are being extremely helpful (and calm!) in helping me to be organized and whatnot since I am a MOH/Bridesmaid virgin. After receiving that last e-mail, I e-mailed Leah: "SHE is getting on my nerves!" Leah's response? "ANOTHER SHE is getting on mine!" UGH!

At this point, the BP is scheduled for 9/26 in Blacksburg, VA; but, with the game, we are also looking at 10/24. I know it will all work itself out, but if you have any suggestions/comments/pointers, I'll take 'em. An outsider's perspective can do wonders. Thanks for the help!

Memorial Day Weekend in Charlotte

Paige was in Charlotte Friday night - Saturday afternoon for another round of bridesmaid dress shopping with Leah and I. First, we went to The Bridal House on Old Statesville Rd. (right by my house) and found two possibilities. Then, we picked up Leah and went to The Wedding Mall. After trying on many, many dresses, we found "the one". It's pretty perfect..chocolate brown and turquoise with beautiful bronze sequins that look like fish scales. Perfect for a November wedding!

(I think the tag should have a disclaimer on it for parents of girls going to prom because it was a tight squeeze on but slid right off! Ha!)

JUST KIDDING!!
These are the two possibilities for bridesmaid dresses, both in a teal/peacock color, both by Alfred Angelo:
The first one is a chiffon/satin trim mix, halter dress that would need to be hemmed to the knee. This could pose a problem, but given the price of the dress ($109), it makes it seem more reasonable. The second one is strapless and satin (without being "bridesmaidy satin"). It is also $109 ($128 at a shop in Concord). (For Leah & I, we would only pay $94 + tax because at TWM, there is a $15 per person fee to try on dresses...)

Neither one really fit either of us..ah, sample sizes. So it was hard to tell if either really was that flattering on either of our body types. The majority vote at this point is for the second one. I REALLY like the purple dress (but don't know that it would be that pretty in teal) because I prefer the halter to the strapless style, but I think the second one would go better with Paige's dress (since it's satin with chiffon stripes). Any votes?

After TWM, we went to Mecklenburg Bridal but didn't find anything new. Then, we drove out to Gastonia to Poffie Girls and came up with nothing. I put about 100 miles on my car driving around Charlotte/Gastonia. I am making a mental note for if/when I ever get married and the duties I will force upon my Maid/Matron of Honor. ;)

It rained all weekend, leaving me completely unmotivated. Brent came down Sunday night and we went to Stooly's. Monday, we laid around and watched tv, went to the store, got pizza and wings & I taught him how to play SCRABBLE. He had never played before...so we played 3 games while watching The Bachelorette. I won 2-3. :)
It was a great, uneventful weekend..except for all the rain. Hopefully the next two weekends will be rain-free! :)

Pirate Update: Despite losing the conference championship, ECU will host a regional this weekend. GO PIRATES!

Photo Updates...

This is how Paige proposed...I be her MOH. :)

Bella loves to hang out under the futon.
She'll have to give it up when I get a "grown up" sofa.

A sweet treat for the birthday girl. :)

Easter Weekend

Bella has been at Brent's house since Friday. I miss her! He took her with him so that on Saturday I would be able to drive straight from Charlotte to Fuquay to go wedding dress shopping with my mom and sister at Enchanting Moments. It would have been completely out of my way...especially with my punctuality issues. It ended up working out and I ended up beating my mom and Paige to the shop and arriving on time, precisely at 2pm. So, I started out my MOH duties on a good note. :) She didn't buy her dress because she was in love with two; and, since it was the first day actually trying on dresses. She wants to look at a couple other places before she makes up her mind. She looked absolutely gorgeous in both. They are two completely different styles so I'm sure that makes the decision tough. The second one is a more traditional gown. When the woman put her veil on, I started to lose it. Then, when she tried it on again with the veil, she gave Paige a bouquet. I really lost it and had to leave the room. My sister is getting married!! (& in less than 8 months!)

We were at EM for 3 hours! Paige rode back with me to Briar Creek so we could get some grub. We ate at Red Robin. I do love me a chocolate malt shake, especially with some whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles. :) Then, Paige left and I followed Mom to Triangle Town because she'd seen a dress that she thought I'd like at Macy's. I was tired of driving and just plain driving but I know my mother has missed her shopping buddy so I appeased her. The dress turned out to be much cuter than what she was describing and it fit! It's linen, just above the knee. The body is ivory with a chocolate band at the bottom and a scooped collar (it's sleeveless), with brown flowers/green centers with a few green beads sewn into the centers. It was on sale and my mom had a $10 off coupon so it ended up an even better deal! And, the green cardigan I already own (from my last shopping adventure at Ann Taylor Loft) is practically the same color as the green centers. :) I love it when that happens.
After that, we came home & watched The Ten Commandments (or whatever it was) and I passed out on the couch.
Sunday was Easter, of course. I met my folks + Paige & Paul at church. We came back and had a nice lunch and a small Easter egg hunt for Paige and I (the Easter Bunny is definitely getting slack on his clues!). P&P left to go to some CF get-together and I packed up my spring wardrobe and headed back to Charlotte.

I am planning to pick Bella up from Brent's tonight, but he may have to go to a game in Raleigh (they are recruiting a guy from Cardinal Gibbons -ack! ack!) so he wouldn't be home til 8 at the earliest...We'll see. She may have to miss me for one more day................
I told myself this one wasn't going to be another LONG entry..Next time, I'll keep it short! :) Hope everyone had a blessed Easter weekend and a good start to the new week.

BIG NEWS!

Saturday morning (okay, early afternoon), Bella and I drove to Raleigh for the night. My sister, Paige, & her boyfriend, Paul, were having their annual St. Patty's Party at my sister's house. Always a fun time, I knew this party would be different since they are both a part of CrossFit (a hardcore workout/healthy clan..I think it's a cult.) and "those people" would be there. My sister joked once, that if there someone within CF was having a party or something, everyone would show up. She wasn't kidding.

The party was special for another reason....PAUL PROPOSED! :)

She had NO idea. Neither did I. I think I was more shocked than she was! Once I found out that Paul had lunch with our dad, I was more okay with it (still shocked) and really happy for her. So, there's a wedding to plan for the Gladwin-Boyles clan. :)

And it was especially cute because they were wearing matching CF St. Patty's t-shirts.

CONGRATULATIONS PAIGE AND PAUL!! :)
