final qc post

there are only 4 days left before the truck & my hired muscles arrive. it's hard to believe that while the days have dragged on, time has flown by. there have been times when i didn't want to move, that i considered using some of my severance to stay in town for a couple months, but those thoughts have passed. i realized this weekend, that the move is going to be good for me..if only for the simple fact that there's nothing here for me anymore. i'm ready for something different, something great..and "it" isn't in charlotte. i'm just ready to feel alive again...not stuck. this is probably my final post from the queen city (at least for now..i may return in the future)...

what a journey it's been. i wonder how the next chapter will read.

top 4

i got the call this morning...i didn't get to round 2 for the augusta job. but, it wasn't all bad. the senior planner did say he was impressed with me and thought i could bring a lot to the position, but with such a deep pool of applicants (over 40 for 1 spot!), they pretty much had the pick of the litter. plus, he told me i made it to the top 4. see? not completely bad news. and on the flip side, the timing would've been quite stressful since i'm scheduled to move next weekend...eek!

so it's back to the drawing board, so to speak. but, i do have packets to send out this week...i trust in God's plan so i'm going to do my best to patiently yet proactively wait for Him to reveal it in His timing.

another good thing? i finally bought a mouse for my iBook. the touchpad was getting..finicky. i have a wireless one somewhere..just not here. so i bought a little logitech corded optical mouse & basic mousepad from target (for under $20). now, i just have to get used to using a mouse again. :)

this week is devoted to job packets and starting the organizing/packing process. it'll be interrupted this weekend since i'm going home for my mom's birthday on friday..so i really only have 9 days to get ready! eek!

hope everyone has a great week...and that you remembered to "spring forward!"

tomorrow is the day...

tomorrow afternoon is my interview. i really hope it goes well....because this is a position/location i am super interested in. :)

in other news...last week i finally made the shrimp corn chowder with fennel recipe that i'd been dying to make (from real simple), since my last attempt at corn chowder had been so delicious. it was not worth the wait! it was gross and takes the #2 spot on the short list of ickiest recipes ever attempted, behind the wintergreen lasagna (also from rs) that i made in college. i think it could have been saved, because it looked really good in the pot with the fennel/leeks/potatoes. i think yellow corn vs. white corn would have helped, and skipping the (half) can of clam sauce and shrimp. also, i think cream vs. milk would have been better...it was too soupy. but, at least i finally made it, but if i ever do it again, it'll be a corn/potato chowder instead. this week, i'm sticking to the basics: boneless pork chop, kabob meat (because stir fry is too dainty) and a strip steak (yummy)...hmm, i'm getting hungry! :)

oh, and in case i forgot to mention, i cut my hair off two weeks ago and got bangs. at first, i really missed my ponytail and regretted the bangs, but i've warmed up to it. i think going back to my roots (blonde) will help too....and, if i ever can take a flattering photo, i'll upload it to show off my 'do, but for now, you'll just have to take my word for it.

hope y'all had a great weekend and that your week started off right..it sure was a beautiful day today!

time is dwindling down...

it's march 2 which means in just a few short weeks i'll be packing up and moving everything back to raleigh and into my parents' house. i am still working on finding a job. i need to get at least 2 packets to the post office today, if not all 6. this packets include some of the jobs previously mentioned (iowa, indiana and missouri) and 3 new ones (colorado, new york and north carolina). now that it's march, i'm starting to get a little more stressed than before since it's been a month and a half with no job leads (aka interviews) and now, the impending move. agh. i need to get my february massage asap. :)
goals for march:
*all of my february goals*
plus:
*be completely organized and packed before the movers arrive at the end of the month
*call about health insurance (since i lose my benefits on 3/20)
*enroll in 2 classes at cpcc: grant writing (wednesdays 3/10-31) & nc building code: laws and administration (3/26-27)
*try to make it to the 7th annual urban design forum this weekend in raleigh (i went to it 2 years ago)
*make sure all my finances are in order...my mom keeps telling me how proud she is of how well i've been doing managing my budget (i'm really looking forward to 4/2 and the severance money..it will really help me out!)
*i cut off my hair. it's really short & i got bangs. i'm trying to get used to it but some days i really miss my ponytail. i hope i can find my confidence again....because sometimes i just feel like a ball of blah.
*lift my spirits. i've noticed in the past several weeks that i'm starting to "feel the pain" and i don't want to get into a rut.
*hopefully spring will arrive soon! it's snowing AGAIN...i'm tired of the snow.
*call to decline the new apartment. i've been holding off, hoping to find something in or around charlotte, but it's not going to happen....& sign my intent to vacate form with addison. sad!
*sand, putty/reform and paint the window sills before move out...gotta disguise bella's damage.
*once everything's been moved out, get the carpets cleaned.

hopefully, march will prove fruitful and full of joy. we will see!

september.
