update on intentions

i'm only 9 days into march, but i thought i'd give an update on the status of my goals for this month...

a GREENVILLE...ecu was on break, so dt was dead BUT i did get qt w/ beana, banana, jax & her adorable son, gage. :)
a $1/day...i put $31 in the jar on the 1st, bringing my 3 month total to $90.
a church...already been to the summit twice. we started a new lesson last week, so i bought the accompanying study guide so i can get more out of jd's sermons.
a reframe "jessica"...done on 3/1. it looks gorg & i think better than when it was gold & yellow (pics to come).
a hang floral plaques in bathroom...done yesterday. (i still need to patch & paint holes from the now-dead towel rod.)
a move white dresser to computer room & reorganize...done 3/2.
a TV is on the cart (it's so high, it's like being at the movies! lol.)
a the completely uncomfortable futon has been pushed to the side & my sofa (that's been living downstairs in the nook for nearly a year!) is currently under my tooshie while i watch my high-rise tv. :)
a hand-painted gift for ldb turned out ADORABLE! (pics to come) she loved it & other women loved it as well (might have some orders coming in?!)
a dentist appt. is scheduled for the first week in may. hey--at least i have one lined up!

** also, this morning, i had an interview for a part-time, unpaid internship opportunity near raleigh. i don't mind the part-time or unpaid aspects, i just wanna get back in there! (and the added resume boost is a given bonus!) :)

an update. yesterday i had an impromptu phone interview. usually when a prospective employer leaves a message about wanting an interview, usually the return call is done in order to SET UP the interview. not this one. i called back and the director proceeded to ask me 9-10 questions. i was completely thrown off and not prepared. i tried to recover quickly and will know by next week if i make it to the actual round of interviews. other positive thoughts..i made it through the initial round and into the pre-interview round of another job that i REALLY want (i know i say this a lot, but it's true..this one is near charlotte, i could actually LIVE where i work & still be able to have a life (as opposed to taking a job in bfe)). so, for both jobs, i will know my fate within the next 2-3 weeks.

october
1. JOB
2. finish my room
3. finish the "jessica" redo project
4. unpack/sort/repack my belongings
5. start to work on the bonus room redo
6. gym. i think i'm going to start going at 11am weekdays as opposed to waiting until 430-630 to work out.
7. church. it's a new priority. i really like the summit.
8. whatever else i can fit in...

september
1. JOB (still working on that one)
2. paint my room (DONE)
3. redecorate my room - new bedding, rods, panels, etc. (DONE)
4. frame for my bed (not yet & not a priority)
5. headboard (same as #4)
6. redo the "jessica" piece (it's ready for this weekend!)
7. unpack, sort, repack what i own (not yet but in the immediate future)
8. bonus room (this is related to #7 so see above)
9. gym consistency (blame the vt/ecu game, my week of being depressed, my week of being lazy)
10. church. i went once this month.
11. whatever else (i got TWO massages this month...i gotta use up my prepaid massages before the year runs out!)

i figured it was time for an update. lo and behold, i am still doing forged fitness/crossfit...this week should be my first full week and i'm looking forward to it...although today's WOD doesn't seem as "easy" as last wednesday's. ;) last thursday and friday i was in greenville for the 2010 nc apa summer planning institute. it was awesome and i'm really glad i got to go. i think i made a couple of good contacts and most of the sessions were so interesting. some people i'd interviewed with were there (& hopefully some i'll see in the near future), so i think that made a good impression. i am still hanging in there as far as the job hunt goes. i have decided not to apply for a couple of positions, mostly because i either figured out i wouldn't want to live in that town or because i really thought about what the employer was looking for and feel that it's a level or two over my head. sure, it's good practice, but let's face it...there are other opportunities out there that better suit my qualifications, like the 2 that posted last week. yep, 2 in one week (within a day or two of each other at that!). so, this week, i'm working on conover, village of marvin and the cog (wilson). financially, things are going great. this weekend was the first time i've dipped into my reserve, and that's mainly because i was behind on doing my weekly certifications (whoops!)..i filed three weeks worth yesterday. so, as soon as that comes into my account, i can pay off my reserve to get it back up to 500. but, that's pretty great for me..7 months without dipping into the pot. woo hoo! baby steps! :)

so, that's my mini update. hopefully i'll have some more good news to report in the near future!

february 1

goals for february
1. my new job is to find a job.
2. continue to sort/purge/organize (especially since moving next month seems eminent).
3. massage (i had a swedish last month that was a-mazing!).
4. church (i did go last month, to hc main. this month, i want to get back to the north campus at least once).
5. pray more (God is good).
6. read more and watch tv less (it's two, but i have so many books that i've been "waiting" to read).
7. see "the lovely bones"; i read the book a few years ago and am looking forward to a trip to the movies.
8. paint?
9. quit.
10. start working out again. i have no excuse now that i don't work during the day......

so, it snowed friday night here in charlotte. it started around 4pm, with very small flakes and continued until about midnight. i went to sleep with the grass barely covered only to wake up to a blanket of white. it's beautiful but the way southerners freak out, always makes me laugh. yes, you should be cautious, but it's SNOW not an alien invasion for pete's sake. yesterday, i had to get out of the house (especially since i've been spending a great deal of time here)..cleared off my car for a quick trip to the gas station for sunkist and a newspaper (gotta get those coupons & the target ad!).

the remainder of the afternoon and evening will be spent working on applications and printing cover letters and my resume for two new jobs: planning tech (knightdale, nc) and regional planner (csra rc, augusta, ga); so that i can go to the usps tomorrow morning to send them off, along with some bills. my sister has also requested i make a trip to anthropolgie to get her a headband so she can wear it to their super bowl party on sunday.

hope everyone's monday hasn't been too bad.....

Happy Friday!

!!HAPPY FRIDAY!!

I am SO glad it's Friday. This has been the longest week! A recap on my week: Monday, I got super stressed out with planning my sister's bachelorette weekend for 17 women, out of town. Tuesday, I went to Young Affiliates of the Mint Artitudes committee meeting at the MMC+D downtown. I met some new people, including two Pirates. I am excited..hopefully my brainstorming juices will be flowing next time. ;) Wednesday, Matt & I went to a YAM Happy Hour event downtown. It was fun, but people didn't seem particularly outgoing...I'm really glad he came with me. Last night, I began my evening with a nap (I must be getting old!) and enjoyed the rest of the evening doing laundry and watching my "reality" tv shows. I also made the unofficial-official Bachelorette Party announcement/invite (handmade). Now, the Party will be October 23-25 in Wilmington. Paige just wasn't all that wild about Blacksburg as the destination. Man! Planning for 17 is hard!

Tonight, I am going to a Habitat Young Professionals' Social downtown with my friend, Chris, who just moved here from Raleigh. My freshman year roommate, Joanna, works for Habitat and invited me. This will be the first time we've seen each other since I moved to Charlotte, and even longer than that! It's a long-awaited reunion. 711 Clement whoop-whoop! :) I'm excited to meet her Habitat friends as well. I think tonight will be more fun than Wednesday...we'll see. Tomorrow night, Matt is taking me out to dinner. He hasn't told me where yet, and I really wanna know. I hope the food's good because I can be pretty picky! Maybe Saturday morning, Bella and I can meet Chris, Ebbie & Courtney (2 greyhounds) at the dog park. We'll see. And, of course, I wanna get the house cleaned up and finish my sorting/organization projects.

Hope you have a great Friday & a great weekend! See you next week!

End of March Update, Part I

I just realized that March is almost over, making 2009 25% complete! Time really does fly when you're having fun! :)

This past weekend was supposed to be my weekend to prime. My over-ambitious list told me I was going to take everything off the walls and fill my nail holes on Friday night; Saturday I was going to prime (and that's 2-3 coats for a final prime mind you) my closet, bedroom, bathroom and hallway & potentially the laundry room. Sunday, I was going to paint the remainder: kitchen, dining room, living room, entry. And, yes, it was only going to be me. I'm sure some of you are laughing because as I look at that, I am too. Now, maybe if I'd already purchased the primer and was feeling 110% it may have been possible that I would've at least gotten primary coats on all the walls, but I wasn't.
Here's what really happened. Brent came into town Thursday night after having been on a recruiting trip to Raleigh (he didn't take the route I laid out for him and wound up with a ticket). Friday, Brent took B to the vet for her check-up and TA DA! NO MANGE HERE! :) She received the clean bill of health, despite having lost almost 4lbs. He got to experience a Pet Smart visit with her and spend the afternoon with her (I was QUITE envious!). Friday night, we went to see the Providence/South Meck game. Ahh, baseball. :)
So Saturday, instead of doing any prep work or running my errands early or going to the grocery store...I can't even tell you how I spent the majority of the day. Hmm...But, at least I got myself motivated and out the door. I went to Lowe's and had a grand time (found a rug that is to DIE for and not bad for a 5x8') buying painting supplies and picking out paint chips for the new apartment. Then, I went across the street to Northlake Mall for some retail therapy. I went to Ann Taylor Loft because I had a coupon that was set to expire Sunday (and I prefer not to shop on Sundays..grocery shopping excluded). I'll just say, that I had a great time and did indeed, use my coupon. :) Then, just for fun, I went upstairs to Arden B. A majority of the clothes I cannot and wouldn't buy/wear but from time to time you can find some cute (& not trashy) items.

Just think, in 2 weeks, I'll be wedding dress browsing/shopping with my sister(!!) so I should make it all about me until then, eh?! (Kidding, kinda.)

september.
