so...i didn't get the carteret position. it's okay..it was a good job and great location, but it would have been a serious cut in pay. there are other opportunities out there..it just means that it wasn't the right one. there's a position in virginia i want to apply for, as well as one about 30 minutes outside chicago. it's a little bit more p&r than i have experience with, but also something i'm interested in. so, we'll see. :)

nothing exciting.

i am afraid i don't have anything exciting to report, but i thought i'd update nonetheless. last week i had my interview in beaufort (which went well, i think..but now i'm starting to think i may have been too confident?!), met my sister for pedi's & my mom for lunch on tuesday (followed by some shopping at cameron village & finding my grandma's birthday present at ttc), and the remainder of the week was filled with some laziness and working on the house. tax day, i worked on the bonus room..and was able to move some of my stuff upstairs--including my futon. that was tough, but i got it up the stairs all by myself. call me wonder woman! :) unfortunately, the layout from last week just isn't doing it for me..so this afternoon, i'll be re-overhauling the space.
saturday, hannah and i drove up to richmond for jackie's baby shower. it was fun...just far enough to feel like a road trip. it was so good to see her and her family..she's 34 weeks..so not long 'til baby brown arrives (they're having a boy). it's the first baby of our little group..so i spoiled him a wee bit more than i would if there were more babies between the 5 of us.
i went out saturday night. a friend of mine from charlotte was in town for a group birthday party (bar crawl/bar golf), and he invited me out. it was fun...and it cured my itch to get out of the house past 10pm. ha! it was an older crowd, so i was even able to do a little networking... :)

well, on the job front...i am waiting to hear about the tech job (i should hear by tomorrow), there's a job in virginia i am going to send a packet to tomorrow, and a new job posted from illinois (about 30mi. west of chicago) that i want to apply for as well. so, we shall see. hopefully, something will come along soon.....

april is good!

the year is already one-quarter over and the second quarter has already started off well. it began with getting my vacation/severance pay out from the county. then came good friday & easter. and now, more good has come.

i know that i've talked for months about my resolution to quit. well, i am pleased to say that i officially have and as a reward, i went to the dentist today! normally, i wouldn't say that with such jubilation...but, last year i told my dentist that i wouldn't come back until i'd quit. the left side of my mouth is still kinda sore, but it's worth it. and, he did some polishing for me....my teeth look great! :)

another reason to be excited? god. he is amazing. i talked to him this morning, thanked him (again) for the opportunity with the georgia job, and asked for his guidance in knowing what job i'm meant to take. because right now, there are 8 positions open that i'm at least mildly interested in. ;) this bunch includes: kansas, ohio, delaware, virginia, south carolina and 3 in north carolina (fayetteville, garner & wilson). this is great! but, not the reason for the post.

this afternoon, as i napped (i guess holding your mouth open for 2 hours will wear you out!), a message was left on the machine regarding an interview opportunity for monday. which is funny, because i was going to call them friday to make sure that they received my packet and to express verbal interest in the position. i don't know yet if it will be over the phone or in person (i hope in person!) but i am excited. it's a position i am really interested in, in an ideal locale (read: nc coast).....i will keep you updated.

officially back.

well, i am officially back in raleigh. i was in charlotte last monday - wednesday trying to tame the loose ends and clean, clean, clean before my lease was up wednesday. i made it out by the skin of my teeth..leaving at 5pm. i had wanted to stop by the office before i left town, but i obviously didn't make it! oh well, i'll have to plan better for my next trip..whenever that will be.

i'll admit i was sad to go, even went out for one more "$2 tuesday" at stooly's, but i'm glad to be here. i really appreciate my parents taking in bella and i. this week, i really start the reorganization/rearrangement process here at my folks' house. i need to be able to set up my computer and printer so that i can get back into job applications...there are some new openings: kansas, south carolina, north carolina, etc. that i want to apply for but i need my printer! :) i am hoping this week will prove fruitful and that we can have the garage cleaned out by the weekend (that'll be amazing if it actually happens!).

i hope everyone had a blessed easter weekend and resurrection sunday. the easter bunny brought me a purse (that his rep bought a couple weekends ago) and bella got a barker's dozen from the rocky mountain chocolate factory. :)
