december 2015.

let's just face it. december is going to be busy and hectic and exhausting and tight on the wallet. thankfully, nearly all of my christmas shopping is complete - just have 2.5 left to purchase before wrapping begins this saturday. it's not even december 1 and my house and office are decorated for the holiday -- i even used my faux greenery on my balcony that i haven't used in probably, 5 years. we'll see just how indoor/outdoor useful it is! here are my goals for the last month of the year...not exactly where i thought i'd be at this point in the year! :( but, i can always finish the year strong!

2. snowball #2 - using it with rewards card(s) for my mom's christmas gift and then it goes away until it is paid off, after which the account will be closed and the card will be cut. the account WILL close in 2016 or you may shoot me in the butt cheek. :)

peace & strength

Today will be a test of strength. It will be a test of patience and purpose. It will be a test of will power as I swallow my anger and absolute disdain for a particular individual. Friday broke me and my spirit. I was treated in a way no person should ever be treated, especially in the work place. I was spoken to in a manner that I do not tolerate and caused me to instantly lose all respect I had for this individual. I was made to feel like I did something horribly wrong when I didn't; all I did was ask a question. On Friday, I snapped. I was beaten up and drained of all enjoyment I had for my job. I do like my job  but the day-to-day nonsense has really started to bring me down and start looking for a way out. My relationship with this individual had already deteriorated since the addition of a new staff member, but Friday, the relationship was severed. I will suck it up and put on my best face (as I just did) but on the inside, I am done. I had really hoped to stick it out for at least a couple more years -- I knew coming in it wouldn't be a forever kind of gig. But, I don't even know if I'll make it to my four year anniversary. Today is a hard day. But, this situation is only pushing me to try harder, to do better and do everything I can possibly do to push my career forward. And, it's also pushing me closer to my God. I find peace in Him. Yes, this situation absolutely blows but He never promised this life would be easy. All I can do is hope, pray and set my eyes on what's to come...and hopefully, it's better than this.

I am thankful to say that today went really well...surprisingly. We got along just fine. I tried to be cold and moody, but I just couldn't. I don't have a bone in my body that would allow me to act like that for more than a few minutes. But, trust me, I'm not foolish. I will be sending out applications and resumes for every available job that I'm reasonably interested in. And, will continue to pray that I am approved to sit for the exam in October.

august 2015

there's still a week left in july but since i've already accomplished most of my goals(!!), i went ahead and prepared for august. august! summer is flying by. the biggest goal for the remaining 5 months is to pay off snowball #2 in order to achieve my resolution to be interest-earning debt free by the end of the year. it will be hard because these monthly payments will be hefty. but, since snowball #1 is at zero and i cancelled my september trip to michigan, i believe it will be possible! :) here i go...

fiscal
1. snowball #1: no debt here! $0.00 balance as of july 17th
2. snowball #2: current balance <$2200.00 - pay at least $550.00 this month
i had to move money from my reserve to cover a snowball payment in july, which means i have to pay off the reserve balance in august, which will take away from a bulk payment here. i'm hoping for at least $200.00. :/
3. car insurance: remaining balance <$485.00 - pay minimum balance (<$100.00)
4. rent/conservice (water/sewer/trash): due august 1-5 ($850.67)
5. auto renewal/property tax payment: due asap ($162.26) this also cuts down my snowball payment :(

6. get car checked (tpms light came on - hope it's not expensive!) 8/13 almost $200! :(7. get new hub caps for my car...got a little road rash on 'em a couple weeks ago so replacement is happening sooner rather than later because i'm vain. 8/28

physical
1. 31 day food challenge: no processed crap, prepared meals and snacks only, no HFCS soda... i slacked off at the end of july, so it's time to get back on the clean-eating wagon.
2. 31 day exercise challenge: minimum 4 days a week of activity - crossfit at home, walk/jog, etc. since my mom bought my sister some fancy jeans, she bought me a fitbit charge. so i, literally, have no excuse not to move/sweat.
3. b12 bloodwork scheduled for 8/28

good stuff
1. continue to purge and give (durham rescue mission) round 1: 6 bags of clothes/accessories dropped off 8/8 (goodwill). round 2: 8-9 bags of bedding/decor/clothes dropped off 8/18 (drm). round 3: early september.
2. more sorting/purging at homestead (keep only what will fit in my room & carry empty bins to the attic) planned for friday 8/14 & saturday 8/15 round 2 planned for 8/29-30
3. shred fest
4. find out whether or not i'll be taking the cert exam in november i'm not. :(
5. resist the urge to rearrange the living room... :) too late. it's not done-done but i got a head start after the exterminator left yesterday. some new ideas, some old but art will shift.
6. resist the urge to spend now that snowball #1 has been paid off!
7. 1/2 day on Friday 8/28! & with car appt., it'll turn into a 2 hour work day. :) :)
8. beana, my best friend, comes to town for a brief visit! 8/28 :)
9. wash & detail my car
10. top-down, inside-out summer clean of my apartment including getting my drapery panels dry cleaned//rearrange the living room planned for 8/21-23 (because they'll come back and spray for bugs next Tuesday) started on 8/21 & 8/23. part II 8/28-30. part III labor day weekend

july 2015

It is so hard to believe that there are just 1.5 days left in june and that we're already halfway through 2015!?! i did fairly well with my june goals so here are my goals/fun stuff that's happening for/in july. :)

fiscal
1. pay remaining balance on snowball #1. 3 payments made. balance down to <$300.00 final payment made = balance is ZERO!!!!
2. make at least $300.00 payment on snowball #2... paid $325.00 this month balance is <$2200.00 (i know it's terrible. why on earth would i put real numbers out there?! because this is real life, real debt, real money!)
3. OR, pay balance of car insurance ($482.80). i opted to pay off snowball #1 instead :)
4. open a savings account -- i've been really tempted to use my savings to help pay down my debt but i really like having that extra money around. if it comes down to december and i have a $300.00 gap between debt and being debt-free, i'll use it but not before. bit the bullet and put my savings into my account to be put towards my debt. it's hard to hold onto savings when there's debt to be paid!

physical
1. minimum 4 days per week of activity: use dance dvd (that's hard!), go for a walk, work up to a jog, combo movements (30 rep, 3-5 rft sets), etc.

june 2015

it's a beautiful morning! a season of change is upon us (literally, since summer starts this month!), a month full of hope and promise! here's my box full of optimism for the month ahead...

fiscal
1. make minimum $400.00 payment on debt snowball #1 (using fed tax refund; $500 would be better) (with goal of having #1 paid off by end of july) $100.00 paid. Should make another $100.00 payment before end of month.
2. make a minimum $300.00 payment on debt snowball #2 ($350.00 would be better; this is the last month to use it and then it's gazelle mode towards pay off!) $200.00 paid. need to make at least another $100.00 payment but $400.00 would be better.
3. open a savings account - i'm THIS close to the $300.00 minimum contemplating using what i've saved ($300.00) to go towards my debt...hard to have savings when you have debt.
4. final car insurance payment before renewal period (<$100.00)
5. delete candy mania off phone, leaving only solitare AND drop data down to 2 GB (to drop base rate down to <$60.00)
*even though i should knock out snowball #1 first because it is the smaller amount, i'm also trying to bring #2 down to a level that is doable in 6 months. my aunt & uncle gave me money for my birthday for my debt pay-down as they are "impressed" with my determination to get this thing knocked out...so, i have more money to play with than in any other given month.

physical
1. food challenge has begun! 30 days of no CRAP! (no soda, no potato chips, no processed/non-organic foods)
2. physical challenge! minimum 5 days a week of activity (dance dvd, go for a walk, work up to a jog, movement combinations) -- this coupled with the food challenge should produce good results
3. one more month of b12 pills before i get my bloodwork retested
4. doctor appointments: lady doctor 6/1, dermo #1 6/2, dermo #2 6/12
5. quit -- i am serious about it this time and i think i'm finally ready to let go...

good stuff
1. bathroom reno *mom's getting painters to paint 6/24, so i just have to do the decorative stuff like pick out new hardware, lighting and put it all together! :)
2. clean out my old room -- PURGE! *this moves to july 4 weekend
3. goodwill/rescue mission donations
4. my birthday 6/16
5. father's day / summer begins 6/21

between last week and tuesday, i dropped 6+ pounds due to stomach issues/virus. my mom thinks i might have celiac. i think i'm gluten-sensitive. but i have been doing better. i want to watch portion sizes, drinking less soda, eating less gluten-rich foods (bagels! biscuits! pizza!), drink less, work out more, and start to find healthier things to snack on. i love the peanut butter covered pretzels from earth fare but damn if i can't eat the whole container in one day!

plans for the weekend:
buy & plant flowers on my balcony (full sun lovers only); pick out a ceiling fan for my living room; sleep; clean; laundry; cook; celebrate paul's birthday; enjoy the boys; etc. no rest for the weary! party on my friends, PARTY ON!

may 2015

it's may...which means it's crunch time. literally and figuratively. :) one month until the thermostat rises and people start wearing less clothing, which for me means shorts and maybe a conservative swim suit, which means there's some toning that needs to happen. one month until my birthday month to accomplish last minute things while i'm still 31; things to quit doing before i'm 32; buckle down and really start to make some headway on my goal to be debt free by the end of the year; bite my cheek and tell that guy officially, i am out and maybe the other one that i've met someone i'm pretty jazzed about and that we should take it down to the platonic level on all levels. i have high hopes for the second third of the year and it begins with this month, MAY.

Thursday, January 8, 2015

It is 8 days into the new year. It may be a little early to take stock and reflect on the progress that's already been made, but I'm going to do it anyways. :)  I realized the other day that while I made resolutions for the new year, I failed to make a goal list for January. Oops! Maybe I'll get it together for February. :) Anyways, I am so amped for 2015 and the goals that I have made for this year - all doable & good for me.

Fiscal fitness

      1. Debt free in 2015 - I was generously gifted at Christmas.
Savings Account - already 1/2 way there before January 1!
Debt Snowball #2 - in just one week I've paid more than $500 off my debt.
This debt could be paid off 6 months early!
Debt Snowball #1 - still on track to be paid off by the end of February

Physical fitness

      1.  Limit/eliminate soda consumption - M & T, I only had 1. W, I had 2.
Either way, I am drinking WAY more water than I have in a long time!

I'm sure it's not much to some people, but even just these few things are HUGE! Wish me luck on my "fitness" journey for 2015!
