Well, July went by quickly! Here we are and it's already August. I got some huge news on Tuesday, July 19 that has changed how I'll be spending my time (especially my weekends) for the next 4 months. I don't want to go into a lot of detail or tell a lot of people the specifics, mostly because I'm afraid I'll fail and then I'd feel so embarrassed. "It" has the potential to change the course of my career (& subsequently, my life) and open more doors...no pressure or anything. :/
I. Debt. The extra huge payment on Snowball #2 last month really blew my fiscal goals for July. Blessing and a curse, it took care of my payment for August so I can focus on other debts. I'm also going to call and try to adjust my payment due date to the middle of the month. With rent and utilities being due at the beginning of the month, it's really difficult to spare extra for that payment; which, usually means I'm moving money out of my reserve to cover groceries and living expenses until the next pay day..which, then I'm paying off the amount I owed, leaving me with even less take-home pay. It's a sick cycle.
II. Home. I still keep going back and forth on the whole moving situation. Moving is appealing since I'm basically being pick-pocketed out of $10 each month for extra services (which over the course of a lease term is $120). Plus, if I move, then I'm really saving $30 each month (which over the course of a lease term is $360.00). I will go look at the two complexes in my neighborhood and think about it. With the timing of "it", I'm most likely going to stay in my current apartment for an extra month and move out by Dec. 1st. But, that also depends on how much the extra 3 weeks will cost me.
III. Health. I totally blew it in July as far as working out and getting good sleep and quitting my bad habit. My goal for August is to do a serious 31-day challenge. To resolve to not eating candy, drinking soda, snacking on crap. To resolve to putting myself to bed by 9pm Sun-Thurs so I can get up and work out in the mornings before work. I really was happier when I was getting my sweat on every day -- helped me get my frustrations out! AND, I did try a new watering hole and I really like it...but, I'll have to cut back on that - again, due to "it". :)
Goals for August 2016
Fiscal
1. Snowball #1: Make $200.00 payment (more if I can swing it, but not less) Paid $25.00 minimum payment 8/12. Will pay remaining $175.00 in a week or so.
2. Snowball #2: No payment due (unless changing my due date affects it) Future due date moved to the middle of the month to not soak up ALL of my paycheck at the beginning of the month.
3. Car Insurance: August payment to be paid out of July 29 paycheck
4. Car Inspection/Renewal: Due by the end of the month
5. Bills: Rent ($843.00), W/S/T ($65.00+/-); Car Insurance ($93.19); Cell Phone ($75.41); Electric ($83.73)
Physical
1. Sleep: Sun - Thurs go to bed at 8:30 pm to rise at 4:00 am to work out Mon-Fri (the Olympics are killing any plans for an early bedtime!!)
2. Sweat: minimum 5,000 steps per day (Fitbit); work out 5-7 days per week
3. Eat: 31 day challenge --> No soda, candy, crap; popcorn OK in moderation (aka I'm going to portion baggy the popcorn for my work day snack)
4. Oral:Floss/Brush/Act after every meal (even at work); coconut oil pull 3 nights/week; whiten teeth
5. R+F Regime: Started with sulfur wash in July, now add all the steps
6. Pills (Consistently take!): B12 (3 pills each day MWF); Vitamin C (1 pill per day except MWF); Probiotic (1 pill per day with dinner)
Fun
1. Start studying!
2. Church 8/7, 8/14, 8/21, 8/24
3. Schedule a massage for Sept
4. Sort/Organize/Purge/Donate
4a. Coat closet
4b. Storage ottoman/bins
4c. Update files
4d. Shred!
4e. Do another wardrobe clean out/Donation run to DRM
5. Look @ apartments - With the timing of "it", I may look to stay in my apartment an extra month and move over Thanksgiving weekend/be out by Dec. 1. I made a decision! I am definitely going to move - but not before my exam. I'm ready to move out because I'm just tired of everything except my kitchen and my view (lack of storage space, persistent bugs, flaws that wouldn't exist if they just did what they said they were going to do a few months ago, appearance/maintenance of property on decline (also has to do with types of people who have moved in in the past 1-2 years), etc. And, there's a complex down the street (within reasonable walking distance to Earth Fare) that is more in line with my budget and I can get a bigger apartment with additional storage included!. My mom and I drove around in it yesterday and she approved. I still can't live on the first floor and of the additional complexes I visited, its gym lacks the most but as long as there are free weights, a treadmill and a little space for me to do my thing, I'm okay. Or, I'll just make the den into a home gym. :)
6. Out of Town Interview 8/11
Work
1. Town Council 8/4
2. Greenway Connector Meeting 8/10
3. Planning Board 8/11 (no meeting)
4. Board of Adjustment 8/25
5. County RAC 8/25
6. Hoard my time: At the end of July, I had almost 90 hours of vacation time (!!) and August will give me almost 100 (so fun!). I would really like to start hoarding my sick time (only 10 hours at the end of July, but by the end of the year I could have 50 if I don't use any time) and, I earn comp time from meetings, so by the end of the year, that number should go up as well. I'd really like to have higher double digits for both sick and comp hours. Doing really well with not using vacation time, but yesterday I stayed home. Got rid of the kid I'd been carrying around for the past few days. Which is partially attributed to be on the lady fun coaster. But, I've been taking my probiotic faithfully over the past few weeks so it was weird. I looked pregnant for a couple days and now I'm back to my slenderish self. :) And, if I have to miss a day for that, I say it's worth it.
