Yesterday, I left work at 3:30 so I could take her to the vet. We were there for 2 HOURS! Ugh. I am pleased to say that Bella Bean weighed in at 56 pounds. She's only 8 months, so if she continues with the same rate of weight gain, she'll be about 80 when she's a year old. ...Now, for the not so good news. She's been scratching her head lately; so much so, that her fur's fallen out. That's why I took her in. Turns out, she has demodectic mange. Basically, dogs have mites and when the mites get angry and irritated, you get mange. The doctor said it's common in dogs under 2 years (check), short-haired dogs (check) and GSD's (check)...so being those 3, I'd say it's reasonable to say that she has it. So, I have to give her her medicine 1x/day for 30 days. In 30 days, we go back so they can do another skin scraping and check. If it's negative, treatment will stop, but if not, it continues. The good part of the bad news is that if she can beat this, most likely she won't get it again. We shall see.
Another positive note, next week is GRADUATION from our intermediate class. Woo hoo! :)
